My story
For me, drawings play a crucial role in the design process. Each piece begins as a sketch — a bridge between imagination and creation. My meticulous hand-drawn designs capture not only the form but the essence of the final object. Abstract drawings serve as a key source of inspiration, offering a free-flowing exploration of shapes, lines, and structures that later transform into tangible objects. This process reflects his belief that every idea is born on paper before becoming reality.
I completed my studies in Design at the University of Arts in Poznań, where I obtained my PhD. My doctoral research focused on design for people with neurological impairments, specifically for patients with aphasia. In the field of medical equipment, I was primarily interested in how design is perceived by the patient: what makes its use difficult, to what extent it can become comfortable to use, and what emotions it evokes.
SIMAR Metalworks was founded in 1988 in Czepino, Poland, through the initiative and hard work of my father, Marian Sipiora. At the beginning, it was a modest metal workshop producing gates, fences, and railings. Year after year, the workshop expanded—growing steadily into a well-established and thriving company. For me, SIMAR has always been more than just a workplace. It’s where I spent my childhood, where I found endless inspiration, and where I was surrounded by the sights, sounds, and textures of metalworking.
After a decade spent between Poznań and Berlin, I felt the need to return home. I longed to feel the material again, to touch it with my own hands — because this is where my creativity truly begins. I cherish the moment of the final touch, when every detail passes through my hands and becomes part of the whole.
